Lay Servant Ministries offer opportunities for laity who desire to use their witness, leadership, and service to inspire others to a deeper commitment to Christ and more effective discipleship. This may include the interpretation of the Scriptures, doctrine, organization, and ministries of the church.
Class Leader: Rev. Jeff Cole of Prairie Chapel UMC
Course Book: “Transforming Evangelism" by Henry H. Knight III and F. Douglas
LEADING PRAYER: This core class will help you grow in confidence and skill in prayer, both personal and public. You will come away with a better understanding of the power of prayer and how to pray.
Class Leader: Rev. Barb McKenzie of Fair Grove UMC
Course Book: “Let the Whole Church Say Amen" by Laurence Hull Stookey.
BASIC: This is the Basic course required for all levels of recognition in Lay Servant Ministries. It will familiarize you with Leading, Caring and Communicating ministries and give you a chance to explore each one. Upon completion of this course, we hope that you will have a basic knowledge of what is means to be Methodist and an idea about which area of ministry God is calling you to pursue.
